I finally got my Craft Room!

Well I finally got my craft room finished and now I can hardly peel myself out of it.

I guess I should start from the beginning. Once upon a time I had a beautiful single daughter and she was living in My craft room. I prayed for her to find the man of her dreams...so I could have MY craft room (is that bad???) Alas my prayers were answered and a wonderful man came into her life.

After what seemed like an eternity (ugh) He asked her to marry him. After what seemed like another eternity (uggggh)  the day came and the wedding was gorgeous. My daughter looked stunning.

As we dropped them off at the cruise terminal for their well deserved honeymoon we said our farewells "I love you...have a wonderful time...when will you be getting your stuff out of MY craft room" (is that bad???)

We picked them up a week later and got them settled in their new home. FINALLY it was all my mwah hahahaha...The space...oh the space....

My announcement to my family went something like this...

"I will be busy working on my craft room until I'm finished so DON"T EVEN THINK about asking me for ANYTHING!" ( is that bad???)

Well it needed a good cleaning. I'm not saying that my daughter isn't a clean person...ok, yes I am.

Once that was done my granddaughters had to spend the night is it because...well because they said so.

Now it was mine, all mine. Whoop whoop! I painted it Determination. What color is determination...why...blue of course.

Next I changed out the light and electrical outlets. What??? of course I did it myself. What do you need fingernail polish to change out outlets for??? What a silly question. I use it to mark which wire goes
on the top and bottom.

Next I put together my craft table I got from JoAnn Fabrics. It was a piece of cake. A big honker piece. It took me 2 1/2 hours, some blood, sweat and no tears, but I did have to apologize to the Lord twice for colorful language.

Look how innocent it looks in the box.
Ok. All the parts are here. Count the screws...ALWAYS count the screws!!!!

.

Ok. Done!

On to the storage unit. This I got at IKEA. It only took about 30 minutes to put together. You gotta love the Swedes or is it the Swiss??? Anywho. This unit is called Expedit. It comes in several configurations and I love it.

Ok. On to the counter tops. I used crafting boards in 2' widths because that was the size I needed and was able to buy in different  lengths to fit my room. I sanded and painted them and mounted them on brackets at 3' high. Can you believe my son-in-law (whom I love dearly) came in and said. "Are those mounted to studs?" I just looked at him with my best mother-in-law glare and said yes.

I then designed and built this cool ribbon rack. (I will be writing a tutorial for it soon)

I added all of my other required equipment (pegboards, ironing board, bulletin boards, etc.) and to finish it up my granddaughters painted works of art for me to hang up.

Now I have my sewing side and my craft side.

Now to create a Zen place. This is my window seat where I can read or snuggle a grandbaby or two or just relax and come up with my next brilliant idea.

Now just close the door...breathe...Ooooooh yeah. I may never leave this room. (is that bad???)
